Cindermouse

I'm so excited to share with you one of the cutest new pattern series out this holiday season! Sophie of What Delilah Did and Nicole at Cloudcraft have teamed up to bring to the stitchers of the world a group of 3 adorable little mice ornaments.

CM4

I recently started working on the first in the series; a little mouse called Cindermouse. The kit arrived at my door with everything I needed to get started and so I jumped right in.

Sophie has created videos that go along with each step of the mouse construction. The videos range from 10-30 minutes and break down everything for even the most beginner of a stitcher.

You start out by doing some prep work for the inside parts, make her tail and then get started sewing the body together. I was totally enlightened on how to do a knotless start and the way that Sophie teaches how to do a blanket stitch has changed my embroidery world.

Once the body is together and stuffed it's time for the ears.

After the ears are stitched up and attached, you get to work on this little dress.

The dress was probably my most favorite part so far. I loved stitching it up and then dressing my little mouse.

I'm almost done with her - I need to do the apron and then add her little broom and she will be ready to hang on our tree - or maybe gift to a lucky friend.

They describe this kit as one even for an adventurous beginner and I would agree. The videos and instructions are very well done and even someone with the most minimal experience could complete this little mouse. I will say it is a bit tedious at times and probably the hardest part I had was with the face. I wasn't really sure how to stitch up the mouth etc and the camera in the video was a little off and hard to see.

You can find a description of the project, including a little trailer, here and you can purchase your kits here. The second kit just came out - Mouse Charming. There are also pdf patterns available here if you want to gather up all your supplies yourself.

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
