My Stitchy Resolutions

I have a couple of things I would like to do this year. The first is to loosen up! I have a certain style that I tend to stick to of detailed linear embroideries like my current moth work-in-progress. Recently however I've been admiring more sketchy, scruffy works on Instagram and really want to give it a try.
I want to stitch with big chunky threads and fine threads on the same piece and leave loose thread ends hanging down the front. I won't be abandoning my usual style completely, just experimenting with some different styles. Hopefully it will be fun; I can usually picture how a finished piece might look but I have an inkling that it might be much more exciting to make it up as I go along.

The other thing I want to do is to try some mixed media. I was lucky enough to get screen printing things and needlefelting stuff for Christmas and once I have worked out how to use them I would love to start incorporating them in my embroidery. So there is (hopefully) lot's of scruffy, printed, felted embroidery coming in 2016!

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
